Zbrush TTA Minnow views by VulnePro
Zbrush TTA Minnow views
The ACM 115 B Minnow: Alphan military

Full 2 page spread (pages 26-27) [painting by Colin Hay featured in Spacecraft 2000 to 2100 AD.

Many of us old school artists and sci-fi fans know this book well, even more people, unfortunately, don't. I remember my Father buying this book for me (at an old K-mart I believe) when I was quite young, early teens. I used to get lost in this book, anyone reading that having got a copy back then knows the feeling. It was a book brimming with imagination and adventures in... another, more familiar galaxy not so far away. I was lucky enough to be part of an official revival of TTA, with Stewart Cowley's involvement himself, and I still have a very direct connection to TTA (eventually more on this at a later time I expect): vulnepro.deviantart.com/galler… There will likely be more TTA from me at some point... eventually.

As to this little 3D spacy craft, it was very much something I just thought would be fun to try as I continue to jam the Zbrush virtual book-learnin' into my skull. As I noted in the previous post I didn't go terribly "greeble" crazy with the ship beyond the rear engine "box"-thing (I stuck to Colin's design so, yeah box. I rather dig the shapes myself though). In the painting you really can't tell what, if anything, is actually back there save there's 3 engines with the center one having a larger exhaust so I felt greebles were fitting here. My paints are a variation of Colin's with an ass-load more dirt and grime thrown in. Frankly that added touch of beating the hell outta your fictional spacecraft designs makes ALL the difference as to selling their sense of "history" and reality. That's, one of various reasons, why everyone loves the original Star Wars trilogy and doesn't like the prequels. Nuff said.

This is NOT one of my original designs. This ship is based on the original classic design by Colin Hay from his painting featured in the 1978 publication, 'Spacecraft 2000 to 2100 AD'.

A view of the underside and intake vent. This was a fairly easy thing to build as the original design wasn't terribly complex nor could you really discern too many details in the painting. Being a very old school spacecraft, I kept the ship fairly clean as to detail and just weathered the snot outta it (that bit was fun). I think the Minnow has to be one of my favorite TTA ships, hands down. It's a really weird yet visually appealing (certainly more from side views) design that has the classic sci-fi feel... 'cause it is.

And the Zbrush madness continues...

This one I chalk up to, "you just have to make this" kind of deals. Classic stuff; Terran Trade Authority. Old school ship from an old school kinda guy. A few more quick renders to follow.

And one with a simple "garage kit" box art style. But of course, seeing most of the TKP art was intentionally in that style.

That's it for now. I'll likely do a painted version eventually and maybe jot down some more details about the actual tank itself. This much you can count on... there will be more.

Expect it.

Front of tank and back of tank. These are views for tank crew with ADD that just can't seem to make up their damn mind which way they are going.

This guy was an immensely faster build than the previously posted SADUS beastie: Jiendel SADUS Zbrush views by VulnePro Naturally, having completed a rather ambitious build already (considering I'm really just starting with Zbrush in contrast to my years as a 2D illustrator) and having learned where to avoid many mistakes (though there will ALWAYS be more to learn) it led to this one being a great deal easier. I also expect the next tank to go ever faster still seeing that I have a rather sizable pile of virtual tank greebles stored away in several of my 3Din' folders :) There will be more certainly ;)

Well, that didn't quite go as planned.

Clearly my intent to return to posting in a reasonable fashion after the last journal entry didn't materialize... it's been quite an exhausting summer. There's no need to go into detail beyond my Father is doing well but otherwise still has memory/dementia issues that can be rather time consuming depending. Unfortunately and most sadly, there was the passing of my Aunt (on my Mom's side) in July as well which really has consumed much of what remained of summer. Since her passing I have been helping my Mom sort out her estate so that has taken quite a lot of time and is still ongoing. As I noted in the previous post, family first the art and work will always be there if I want it to. All said things are going as well as can be expected. Now with a modicum of calm beginning to settle in it's time I can finally get some of that work that's been backing up posted.

How it this will go will be pretty simple; stuff will drop when it drops but expect stuff to show up for sure, there's actually a lot considering how chaotic the last couple years have been (I just have to sort though all of it). I did manage to work when I could make the time because it's always relaxing to just sit down and do what I love to do; create stuff. The Theos project isn't dead, it just had a little break, new work will materialize as I can get to it and all. I did say new stuff would be coming this year it just ended up a bit later than planned.

Apologies, again, for the piles of unanswered comments but I would hope everyone understands I'm not purposefully ignoring anyone. As always I appreciate the comments, favs, watches, and general support from everyone that drops by. We will be seeing you more and more 'round the infobahn here, in fact it seems I'm here right now ;)

Oh look there be things and stuff and junk going up!

Cheers!
