Badan Song: Unknown Entity by VulnePro Badan Song: Unknown Entity by VulnePro
As the title says, an "unknown" that looks like a sendai but clearly, on closer inspection, is off. This "entity" is, more or less, holding a collection of sendai, and non sendai parts into the shape of a sendai though pure quantum will. So, no, this isn't a sendai, it's something... else.

This is really the first peek at what is actually a rather strong paranormal vibe running through Theos and this thing is, without a doubt, very much in that vein. The glowing orbs are also something uncommon to the setting.

Digital paint conversion of pencil thumb illustration. Photoshop CS3. "Star field" BG, again, copyright free illo and only part of presentation I didn't illustrate.

More work to come...

You don't ;) This thing is simply a shell, destroying it wouldn't accomplish a thing.

I always like your take on robots. Your designs have a nice uncommon flair that I don't see much elsewhere.

Good to know it's been coming off as unsettling and creepy to folks, it's supposed to be somewhat.

The BG (noted in my posting) is a copyright free image I got from a book I have called "The Complete Encyclopedia of Illustration". It's a collection of copyright free material that's perfect for this kind of thing. I rarely have used anything like copyright free/clip art stuff (being I draw everything unless otherwise noted) but the star field seemed apt for these pieces so I thought I'd give it a go.

There's a lot of copyright free work out there that is often used in graphic design work so, if you look online, I'm sure you can find some.

Cheers!

It kinda reminds me of the concept I had about 'mecha from the realm of spirits'.
I really should carry it through ._.'..

I'm guessing that more on this guy will come with time?

Sorry bout the delayed reply but to answer that question, yes there will be more on this guy soon. It's something certainly "other" so yes similar to a degree but also different as well.

One thing about ideas, is while I always, always strive to be as unique or original as I can I also am very aware that pretty much every idea has already happened in someone's head, somewhere. There's over 6 billion souls living on this little planet so that's something we must always consider during the act of creating anything. That said, it's personal perspective that makes an idea our own, how we approach things and put things together based on our personal experience.

If you're honest with your work you can usually tell what ideas are worth keeping and which ones seem too familiar to explore further. So, if you think you should, carry it through good sir ;) You will probably take it to your own places your own way :)

That's the most profound statement regarding
originality that I've ever heard in my life;

personal perspective is what creates originality...
I'll have to hold tight to that thought when
I start working on my next piece.

I'm glad it could be of help :)

Overall I'd say that's the case, it really comes down to personal perspective at this time in human history. I don't believe we've utterly dried up any possibilities of new thoughts or ideas as there are always new paradigms to discover. However we've had several thousand years to cover the basics so it really does keep coming back to how we see things, as individuals, that define our interpretations (spin/execution of concept/narrative) of time worn and classical ideas.

That makes a lot of sense; especially given some
of the more modern readings of plays from the
15th-16th century, such as Shakespeare's Othello..

Hooray for free floating limbs!! I wonder how that might influence his combat style, assuming it doesn't just fire energy bolts from those spectral orbs, or simply crush enemies through sheer 'quantum will'! And assuming it deigns to engage in combat at all.

Very cool concept, Mike! Certainly radiates an aura of mysterious omnipotence.
Love the reflected light of the orbs on the body parts. In general, your sense of the subtleties of good lighting is pretty stellar.
