This is a little bit of a blast of the past. I did this art for DJ? Acucrack back in 2002, it was for their Dope King CD: [link]
Jason Novack, at the time also working for Manga Entertainment, commissioned me to do this for the band, of which he is a member. My memory is hazy but I believe Keith Burgess, also with Manga at the time, referred my work to him. I must say this one was cool to do and the only CD cover I was involved with. I would love to do other CD cover work but I never got around to tracking down other gigs in that area, who knows maybe I will at some point again? They had a pretty specific notion in mind for the power suit designs so I did a few concepts and they picked the one they wanted, then we went from there. It was kind of an old school anime look they had in mind so with that this is what we ended up with, right down to the big feet look and the old school mech style poses. You can check out DJ? Acucrack’s site here: [link] These guys, kinda electronica/jungle, even worked with one of my fav bands Curve (Toni Halliday from Curve that is), pretty ace in my book
I also did inside sleeve art of the two power suited band memebers but I'm posting the cover only here.
Come to think of it, yeah, kinda does. I just remember they were after a very retro anime mech look, sorta like Layzner, Votoms, or Dougram you know? It's a pretty simple piece but that was the point overall, nothing crazy.
