Dies Combat Taedus 01 by VulnePro Dies Combat Taedus 01 by VulnePro
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and, those who have braved the Black Friday insanity got some good swag.

And with that I drop some Theos swag in the form of a fully tricked out combat gear taedus. I've been wanting to do some sendai in full combat gear for awhile now so here's the first of several examples to come.

This guy's a Dies model taedus and is sporting a full combat armor suit which goes over his already armored body. The chest and mid torso area is armored sections, along with the shoulder pieces and shin/calf armor. The rest of the clothing is part of the armor components. Various packs can be worn depending on tactical needs and this guy appears to be pretty covered.

The taedus carries two shettiers, a Jeindel combat auto (the handgun) and a Dies compact full auto (the sub machine gun on the back pack). The colors are very much an Indus palette as the sodium vapor hues of amber and green are a pretty dominant color across much of the artificially lit architecture. So you'll see a lot of combat gear in these kind of hues, also blacks and grays as well. His khaki's have an abstract pattern breaker camo pattern, which again, is intended more for the urban sprawl. Various patterns are used.

It's pretty obvious he's seen some action as his gear is scuffed up with dirt, grime, and scratches. You don't want to cross this guy or he'll kick your ass and take your lunch money.

There are more to come.

Happy Holidays!

Is there a compilation of info surrounding this universe? I really like the over-all settings and the art style in a lot of the artwork associated with this universe. I would love to have some pages dedicated to the conceptualization of specific aspects and world themes. I dunno, it is kind of hard for me to articulate what I am asking about.
for example, if one does any research on the Gundam franchise, you can get a whole lot of detailed info on many aspects of the world and development.

I am most interested in the human and synthetic human races, as they relate to one another. It is something I struggle with in my own sci-fi writing, as I would like to create something that feels genuine and multidimensional, rather than flat and weak.
I like the technology that goes into synthetic humans/humanoids, as far as how it related to society.

I dunno, i'm not very articulate today...

anyway, great work!

There isn't, quite, that kind of thing... yet (though I planned to do something like this eventually). At the moment what we do have is a significant amount of info in every posting here in the DA gallery and more information to be found on our blog: [link]

There is a lot of nuggets of info on how the sendai and humans relate in the various sendai related posts here:

[link]
[link]
[link] All proletarian sendai posts, free sendai, etc. I have a feeling you already saw these but you get the idea.

So, yeah, in time I plan to, more or less, do just what you're asking for, a compiled information base or some type of wiki, it's just a matter of time :) Glad you're enjoying the material.

Cheers!

Not a problem. You're more than welcome to take a crack at it. You've covered the bases, just make sure you credit the origin back here as a copyrighted work by Studio Vulne Pro for the Theos KE Polemos project. Always happy and honored to see people doing fan works, homages, or simply finding inspiration in the work we're doing.

My thanks! I look forward to what you come up with.

Why are your designs so impossibly epic? D:

All those extra details, like the scratches and scrapes just make this even more incredible

Not for a game (though, of course, it could be) but part of a project intended for TV animation, so the intent would be film eventually. Thanks for the comments man :)

I've been endlessly appreciative of the interest people have been showing in this work, it never ceases to amaze me. Many artists have already made fan arts/homage works and we're always happy to see them. So far nobody has made any short films or animations based on the material so anyone is welcome to do so, as long as they refer the work back to us as the inspiration. Everyone has been really cool about letting us know when they do something like that so it's cool with us.

It would be pretty cool to see something like that :) Thanks again man! Anyone with a Crow replica (or posing with the real thing) is ace in my book ;)

I built that Crow for a halloween costume a few years back. I got to meet Joel and the original cast at cinematic titanic recently too. It was amazing.

Would you be open to a collaborative project based on your characters? I do alot of 2d to 3d animation. Kinda like motion comics, but the human elements would be live action. And the "motion" wouldnt suck.
Im busy through the beginning of the year but I would have time at the end of January, If you are down.

Sorry for the delayed reply your reply got buried in piles of other comments.

Even cooler you built that Crow prop yourself. Obviously from my previous comment if you're a fan of MST3K you're cool in my book. I was watching the show since it's days on Comedy Central. It wasn't Thanksgiving without the Turkey Day Marathon. God I miss those days but I'm happy they're all still doing their thing, just as hilarious as ever.

I'd be open to collaborations, always have been but in regards to my studio's Theos I.P. we have a very specific vision and intent for its presentation (there are a few things going on behind the scenes but can't really elaborate)and its art direction wasn't designed with live action in mind. To produce what we have in mind, effectively, in live action would require a budget in the territory of something like Lord of the Rings or Avatar (which is not something we could entertain) so it was always animation we had in mind (and potentially video games as well). I'm a huge film buff but the more visually ambitious film gets these days the more expansive, or expansive, the budgets, animation (unless Pixar style full 3D) typically doesn't even come close (especially looking at overseas budgets).

That said a film collaboration of the kind you suggest could just as easily be an entirely new creation intended for live action, etc. Regardless I'm always happy to keep in touch with other creators and open to potential collaborative endeavors, time permitting of course as that seems less in supply anymore. As to January, not sure what it'll look like yet.

If there are any, more direct forms of chat (or Skype) you want to contact me with just fire a DA note my way.

Definitely we'll keep in touch :)

Personally I try to not approach any concept as any better than the other but, rather serving the intent of said concept as effectively as I can at that moment. That said, I appreciate your comments wholeheartedly, my thanks :) I had a ton of fun with this guy so I'm happy folks are diggin' him.

He reminds me of a shark, an on-land-kill-you-with-my-artillery-shark. Yep.
I have a random seeming question:
How does one make designs for weapons, yet not have them look threatning?
Like water gun compatible. I have already thought of coloring them pink as an option, but no.

Indeed he kinda has a shark vibe to his head.

Well color can help but one way would be to go with softer lines, more bubbly shapes rather than harsh angles and planer surfaces. Nerf guns might be a place to start for ideas and, yes, water guns too. It's not really a simple answer but I would say shoot for shapes that are not as directly evocative of what you see with the more aggressive surfaces on real weapons.

In other words... VERY hard to kill!

This is so damn cool! Sort of a departure from the usual TKP designs. Gotta love 'mechs' w/ clothes. Cant say I've seen too many armored 'borgs around. Not in the sense of sporting almost human-like combat gear. It's a great look. Altho I did recently see some amazing stuff along those lines by Aaron Beck: [link]

Thank you kindly Rob :) Yeah, it does seem a departure from my work (what I have posted of course) but this sort off thing was always part of the TKP setting, combat gear for the sendai and we'll even see some stuff kinda like this for FOILs as well... eventually. Glad to finally get to posting some of this though, so in that it's a departure for sure.
