Ganadhje collab CG color by VulnePro Ganadhje collab CG color by VulnePro
Another new CG color collab with 's imaginative mecha designs. This time I went with a more classic OD green color with the machine with dark maroon-rust-ish accents. This illo is not fully complete as to colors, I plan to do some tweaks and additions. I'm posting this now cause my hard drive gave me a scare last night when it had an error that caused it to disappear with reboot but I got it back and all's good. I just decided to post this now and will just add the edits later.

Thank you kindly :) I didn't design the machine :icongenocidalpenguin: did. I only did the color work but from what I understand Half Life wasn't the inspiration. I don't think he'd mind the comment at all though ;)

Looks pretty good.
Kudos on the feet.

I am going to do a mech soon, have to remember lots of small parts to add detail.
My winamp skin is giving me ideas.

Danka. Indeed 's designs are distinct and really a blast to put color too. Cool beans man, can't wait to see your creations, I say go for it :D It's nice to know the stuff GP and I have been doing has inspired others to do their thing. That's what it's all about you know, building a community conducive to creativity, not so competitive that it stifles it.

A very impressive colouring peice as usual. Your weathering techniques improve with every new picture and it shows, even if it isn't quite finished yet. Do you decide on the colour scheme or does SP give you guidelines?

Thanks man :) On this one I just did my thing, I had a notion of the look I wanted, the classic military olive drab vibe and took it from there. On Dashgaw GP had a color scheme in mind and on the first two just basically that they were desert but I pretty much took it from there. Dashgaw he had a specific look in mind and I dug big time as it was a color style I would have prob done at some point anyway, either for my stuff or something else. If you have an idea for the Phantom, feel free to let me know, if not I'll just do my thing with it ;) I'll make it fab regardless :)

Sometimes, we just have a vision and it's hard to get it to work out perfectly and other times when you just do your thing, it comes out better than expected. Either way, your work is brilliant man. As for the Phantom, I give you full permission to try what you think might look good. I coloured it my way and I like how it came out but I love your stuff and would love to see your interpretation. Only thing I'd suggest is take a look at my pic to see what's a thruster, vent or sensor as I like to use the same shapes to give a uniform design.

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it and I utterly return the kudos as well, I think you're work is really fantastic as well. Indeed I planned to use your colors as a launch pad for things like sensors and such, I do much the same with GP's works ;) Want to keep them in the spirit of the original creators :) i hope to get to it soon. I've got so much going on of late but I still manage to sneak cool stuff like this in, you're in in the cue, I know it's going to be a blast to color it.

When will you do your own cartoon you have too much mecha characters

Well, it's going to come down to when we pitch the idea, at that point, providing funding is secured, it goes into pre-production then production.

As for mecha, yes there have been a lot posted but there will be plenty of non mecha and characters posted soon. When designing concepts you often will do more than you'll actually see in the final product as you hone in on your ideas.

Does GP hand you the lineart to do or was this a modification of the colored one on his page?

All his lineart, I only do colors with minimal minipulation of the lines. The only things I've really edited on the line work was smoothing out the folds in the fabric covers so the shading would flow better for color. The lines are great for countour drawings but with color I smoothed em out for flow, that's it. Everything else is 100% penguin's lines, I just do color ;) He also did the markings on the 3 previous mechs but this one I added the 4 pointed star on his request.

I'm envious then. I wish I could do some manips of GP's work but, sadly, I suppose I'm not worthy enough to do so.

Nice color Btw.

Indeed I concur with GP, always believe in what you do. It's never are you worthy, good enough or what not as there are always different levels people will be at but it's not something a person can't achieve. It's all hard work and lots of practice to get to where you want to be and always a learning process. I swear I never stop learning, never ;) Frankly I see a lot of cool work in your gallery so I'd say you're quite capable.

Thanks, glad you dig it and it's always awesome when something inspires more great work from others. That's what you really want in a community of artists inspiration, not cut throat competition, there’s enough of that crap in the professional world as I'm sure you know. So far everyone I've been associating with here is utterly about inspiring one another and man that's just an awesome thing :) I know when I see cool stuff from others I feel the same, inspired to just do what I love.

You are right. ever since I have joined here it has been cool to just talk with other artist from all over the world. Vey cool thing that Deviant art group started. I used to post on other forums and stuff but they never have had a good system to talk or inspire each other. You would see someones work, download it and never even think about making contact with them then you never really knew if people liked your work or not.

Hey would you be intrested in a colab. I have several sketches of robots I have nver colored. I would love to see what you might come up with. I think my style of robot is a little diffrent than what your used to but it might be fun. Let me know, I am off to bed but I will get back to you tomorrow.

Yeah Deviant is a great place to just let work do it's thing and find it's audience, speak for itself.

Sure I wouldn't mind trying a piece or two for color but I have no idea how fast I can get to it, it seems I have a lot of requests of late for doing colors :) But yeah, fire something my way, I'll send you a note on my e-mail as I don't post it, spanbots are evil and i don't want em finding it.

Yeah, I have a few in the cue. Also other stuff to do as well but they’ll appear hopefully soon. There's an OD green one and a Panzer gray one and also I still have a cubist one to complete. Been so busy with other stuff little time. Thing is coloring GP's mechs goes pretty damn fast so it's not like they eat up time to do them, I just kinda have been sneaking em in between down time with the freelance :)

I'm open to ideas being thrown around from others for sure. If anything got rejected it sure as hell wouldn't be due to a lack of talent, it would simply have to fit the project's world setting really. Still I'm all about exploring differing aesthetics and different artists will always have different ideas and perspectives... just like the reality of real world military design ;) no rush currently but it's nice to know others are so taken with this project that they'd offer to be part of it. It's really a beast of a thing as I've only posted a tiny peek into what it's really about. There's stuff I'll never post as it's big spoiler material but in the context of the show I think it'll be some interesting twists :)

i would probably model from your concepts...its simply faster if you start from a concept and then translate to model. of course it will be untextured, but the model should fit any future needs. seeing as it is an animated project and not something like a game i owuld be going as close to your detailing as possible.
