Oshen-Dies Nal-Farbute FOIL by VulnePro Oshen-Dies Nal-Farbute FOIL by VulnePro
And we add another combat FOIL with more still pending.

This one I really had fun working on, I rather dig the result. Many of you will recognize it from this batch of FOIL thumbs:

[link]

It only seemed a matter of time a FOIL equipped with some type of radome gear would appear in TKP. It was during one, of many, discussions about potential designs :icongenocidalpenguin: and I had that he brought up the notion of doing an ECM/EWAC type of FOIL. Naturally I had planned to do something like that anyway so the design in the thumbnail sheet above was the result. Now it has been taken to a more refined conclusion here :)

Although the design of the FOIL is all me I consider this one a collab as :icongenocidalpenguin: provided it's name.

Nal-Farbute: (Fierce striking needle) sorta old Swedish/Danish/Norwegian/Icelandic

As I've noted before, naming conventions in TKP straddle from accurate meaning to mixed up and inaccurate (which is intentional to keep their sense of history fractured).

The Nal-Farbute is not quite an ECM or EWAC system but something more specific to events unfolding in Theos Ke Polemos during the Siege of the Black Son. This machine is a 5th generation FOIL, through and through. Nal-Farbute is also the result of Oshen and Dies going into partnership in order to deal with the new threats facing the Polemon theater. So having the two most respected FOIL manufacturers behind this machine means it's a formidable beast indeed. This places the machine in the Siege of the Black Son period when FOILs, and Polemos itself, are in a fight for survival.

Still more pending...

Cheers!

Reminds me of the good old Eye-Zack. I love radome headed mecha. They just have a really unique design.

This thing is absolutely brilliant. I've always admired your work, but this piece has just made me feel the need to say something about it. I am in complete awe of how amazing this FOIL is. I really wish I could do something to help further your work, but I'm lacking ideas of how at the moment.

interesting choice of colours. Was the pastel vibe intentional? the angel decal is a very nice touch.

My thanks :) Aye, indeed, the more monochrome muted pastel was intentional so, technically, I wouldn't call this a full or true color rendition. It's definitely more stylized as I often like to try different things or mix things up when presenting the work.

Thanks a ton Adam :) Yeah, I'd have to say this one is probably one of my own personal favs as well. It just hit all the right sweet spots and I really got into it. I've always had a sense of the FOILs visually evolving (through their history and the narrative) so what has been posted has been the process of exploring that. The 5th gen FOILs are the final stage and there are various developments that inform why they will look a bit different yet still unmistakably FOILs.

damn...

I never saw this one... It must've slipped secretly from my watch.

I really dig the head design on this FOIL. It looks like it's wearing a Chinese hat. :meow: I guess that must be part of its charm.

The line art and coloring is so clean... amazing. The combination of the insignias/unit ID and the sleek curves of the design almost give it a racing feel to me.

Thanks man :) Yeah the latest posts I wanted to go with a clean model sheet presentation and really give them precisely the feel you got from it. The war the FOILs are engaged in is a rather controlled affair with various big manufacturing firms, guilds, corporations, etc all playing both sides. It's not a cyberpunk kinda approach but certainly that sense of corporate influence/power permeates the whole thing.

Indeedy. Theos Ke Polemos, Greek for God and War, though more accurate would be Theos Kai Polemos. Here the Title infers more God (spirituality rather than specific dogma as the notion of God is more abstract in the story) colliding with war, as in KE or Kinetic Energy. It still can be read simply as God and War. The title sums up the immediate stark themes of the project.

Aye, you're really not far off the mark either way, it's ultimately fulfilling a role somewhat in the same territory of ECM/EWAC. Where it differs is it's a very specific response to a perceived change in the nature of the war going down on Polemos. TO say more would spoil it but it's an interesting role this thing has ;)

Thanks a don for the comments and fav Kai, it's always good to see you drop by :)

Cheers!
