Strumgeist 5th Gen EVO FOIL by VulnePro Strumgeist 5th Gen EVO FOIL by VulnePro
And the new FOIL :)

This one is a 5th Generation of the Strumgeist medium CAV combat FOIL.

The original 3rd Gen versions can be seen here:

and here: [link]

I've planned to do some nifty classic clean model sheet style contour line FOIL illos and this will be the first of many more to come. I still plan to do the full paint style as well so we'll see some of those now and then too :)

This is the stock version of the 5th gen EVO Strumgeist so expect to see variants with add-on armor and equipment in the future. The Strumgiest is a classic workhorse grunt style FOIL (kinda like a Zaku for all the Gundam fans out there) thus it's retained it's classic look as it evolved through the 4th generation to 5th generation of FOIL development. This one is decked out with marking for Indus Eye of SOL forces.

Pencil illustration with digital color in Photoshop CS3

More to come during the week...

Cheers!

LOL

Aye, the FOILs often push aesthetics in a more fantastical vector but that's part of the fun. Them boots are made for walkin'... and ass kickin' XD Funny, Five Star Stories didn't influence me directly but I can see how Theos went into somewhat similar visual territory in a few places (I just went where the material seemed to want to take me. Always do). Still (I would hope) very, very different though.

Thanks man :D

FFS has different aesthetics so dont worry. if you really wanted to compare them then the athlete like proportions are the only things that ffs and your foils have in common.
your foils have those smooth, round and organic shapes going on. and i remember when you introduced those slick legs for the first time. with organically covered knees instead of separated joints. the arms show the same design changes. THIS particular feature reminds me of the EVAs from NGE
. i know its dangerous to name it since everyone tends to come up with NGE whenever someone posts a mech but here i thought that it fits (for this single feature at least). and i really like this evolution. it adds more life to the foils. and as you said yourself: it also adds more material variety which is the main plus here.

come to think of it your foils and the FFS ones share something more. its that borderline of being beautiful and ugly at the same time. its a very progressive solution which really appeals to me. thats why i like FFS as well.

so yeah
my pleasure =D

Indeed I don't worry much at all regarding comparisons but being it comes with the territory I also don't shy away from commenting or acknowledging them. I create with the drive to be as original as I can but I also am keenly aware I live with 3000 (known approx)years of human history and over 6 billion thinking souls. We all have our own perspective that informs how we spin our creativity so it's there where the magic happens. Most of us sincerely pursuing and exploring a path to some from of originality know that to be so :)

Indeed Eva has a huge shadow and really it earned it, it was a striking work in so many ways. So indeed when you explore the idea of sentient, living mecha you're in that shadow. All said, I have worked hard to make TKP something really standing on it's own and that's also something that has to be earned. If you put in the work, hopefully, it will speak for itself so I'm happy it seems to be doing the job :) The FOILs have been an interesting process to explore their visual evolution. World building in visual design is just a fascinating endeavor to me.

This project has really become a playground for exploring visual design and soon I plan to post a DA journal getting into a more detailed discussion of what TKP seems to have been moving towards in it's online form; something akin to some of the various hardcore mecha modeling projects in Japan. Stuff like Hyper Weapon, MaK, Advance of Zeta, Gundam Sentinel, etc. That spirit of a singularly engrossing project that draws various creators interest in exploring it in some fashion. Also the spirit of pushing the boundaries beyond the more commercial approach to these things. It's been really humbling all this interest from my peers, as always my thanks to all of you! It makes the work incredibly rewarding as it's fueled, not be conceit but the spirit of inspiration amongst us all. So more on this soon-ish :)

Ugly beautiful indeed :D

Cheers and best Adam!

Rapid modification and adaptation to combat situations can be a key to victory in some contacts, this probably would be my FOIL of choice.
