Now we’re talking, here are two concept image art illos of some current designs, we have some 4 legged artillery whup-ass in the form of two walking tanks, one made by Vulne Consortium, the other Germane. The top machine, the Blid Wolfspinne was clearly inspired, once again, by WWII German armor, more the fixed barrel Jagdpanzer style. Overall it’s a purely original take on the look but the wedge angle body is clearly based on the old German tanks. The bottom machine, the Vulne Hautfield is a more modern looking design and really has no basis or influence; it was just riffed from my head. The two floating machines are satellite targeting, ranging, and battlefield assessment sendai drones that can often accompany these type of tanks. Both illos have a little loosey goosy feel in spots that I kinda like. When I showed a preview peek he had said they reminded him of the Dougram walker tanks. I take that as a rather fab compliment as old school mecha has always had a soft spot in me :)

EDIT 01/31/2006: I uploaded an updated version of the image with the bottom tank getting some very subtle smoke effects to imply the shockwave from firing its cannon. I also added some subtle vibration dust coming off the tank due to the machine reacting to the discharge kick and bloomed out the muzzle flash a little more. These are all very subtle but noticeable for effect. I planned to do this stuff but forgot and thanks to a friend commenting I added it in there :)

The Blid Wolfspinne looks pretty fast, while the Hautfield T-13 looks like a more stable and accurate firing platform. Pretty Awsome

Very cool! I want to develop some four legged mechs for my up coming comic (once I can use my arm again AND find time). I like how you attached the legs to the circular form in the lower pic. I think I might barrow that... Great walking tanks by the way... everything looks cooler with mech legs! :D

My thanks, I'm glad you dig em :) Sure, feel free to borrow some ideas as long as you obviously do you r own thing of course and I'm sure you will. Mimicry is sometimes the greatest form of flattery or compliment you can get. Always best to work hard to be unique in your approach to things though it's a tough thing to accomplish in this age of information we live in.
