The top frame is an independent sendai mechanic/medic. Most likely his work would be specialized and, from the look of his small shop, he probably works with small parts repair and modification. This fellow is a free sendai and the shop is on Polemos so the light outside the door is sunlight.

The bottom frame is a human fellow (hmm, looks like Louander De'Arben)

working on a generator for the blood and nutrient processing unit the sendai, to the right, is holding in his hands. This is taking place in Genuaa on Indus where the sun never shines. Genuaa is a more progressive political bloc so humans treat sendai with more respect here than some of the other blocs on Indus. Louander, an I.P.I.O. detective, likes to fiddle with sendai tuning in his spare time.
