Funny thing, I was hired into Dreamwave to actually draw some of the Transformers but ended up doing CG colors for them instead, which was fine just as well. I did submit this one for consideration due to some craziness with the schedules on those profile books but another artist had already been paid. They loved the design I did though and wanted to use it but you know how that can go. So this fella is the only one I actually drew for DW and I banged it out really fast, didn't have a lot of time so I didn't get all crazy, just a basic standing mech pose.

It's really too bad that they went with the other one. This is a refreshing look at the Throttlebot design, and I really like it.

Yeah with the other illustrator paid in full I can understand DW not being able to use it. I didn't know that at the time I did this alternative. Thanks, I'm glad you dig it. I just tried to keep it true to the spirit of the toy and inject some of my own design aesthetics personality into it as well.

Pat Lee did the one that got in the book, right? This is just a guess since he's doing that "reaching for your purse" thing.

Awesome TFs art in your gallery! I think you can give D.F. a run for his money if given the chance.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. It's too bad I joined Dreamwave at the end of their ropes otherwise I likely would have been drawing them too. As it went I only drew this one for them. Don's work is damn good but doing mecha is something I've done for over 10 years now so I'm prety comfortable with them as well. My personal studio work is really more the direction I'm going though, I have a lot more fun with it.

Sorry that you didn't found a way to work for IDW then. I generaly prefer their books over DW ones. But I prefer your work over some "spotlight" that have been edited there.
(I hope that my english isn't too bad :()

Thank you :) It was the only Transformer I actually did draw while working with Dreamwave comics. I was hired to draw them but as things went I ended up doing colors for them instead. This one I drew to submit as a replacement illo but it didn't get printed. Yeah I tried to make it look as cool as I could seeing as how the toy didn't really convey much visually.
