Vulne Consortium Walker Tank by VulnePro Vulne Consortium Walker Tank by VulnePro
An early, and though finished looking, rough-ish concept of a walking tank for Theos. I dig the basic vibe this design has but it could use some work. It has a rather high profile/center of gravity in the pic but obviously can bring that in lower as it would be more stable doing so. Although I have story driven conditions to shape certain design choices (anti-gravitic assists and super light armor for mecha and things like this spindly legged tank here). I will still likely go in and redesign this if I use it and also likely go in some other directions with walking tank ideas. Vulne, in our studio name Vulne Pro is actually the name of a political bloc/corporate consortium in the Theos project, it had a nice ring to it so it became our studio name.

This is pretty awesome. I like how you put the green around the feet resembling grass stains

Thank you, I appreciate it :) Little details like that are a lot of fun to put in there as it adds more of a sense of history to a design such as this.

:D Thanks man. Yeah it's one of the earlier posts so I can understand how it snuck by :) It's more modern in look (made by the fictional Vulne Consortium) and when you look at the last full CG two scene concept sheet, the bottom walker tank, with the drones, is also Vulne, also very modern looking. The other non-Vulne tanks are kinda steampunk WWII Germany in vibe :)

looks good. I like the mix of old and new here. Not meaning to sound bad but my fav walker tanks are the ones in ghost in the shell... except for the fucking tachicomas, those things pissed me off :)

Thank you. I actually like the tank in Ghost as well but I also dug the Tachicoma's too, they were more like Shirow's comic Fuchichomas (I belive Shirow diesigned the Tachi's as well for Production I.G.). For pure realish though the tank in the movie was beautifuly done. It was designed by Shoji Kawamori, the guy responsible for some of anime's most famous mecha designs ever including the classic Macross Valkyrie. Kawamori also did the design for the walking tank in Patlabor 2 the Movie.

ah awesome. I think my dislike of the tachicomas was as much inspired by their annoying characters as much as the look of them, altho they were a little cutesy for me in general. There was an awesome tank in episode 2 (I think) of the first GITS series. Id have had the techcomas loo like little ones of that but maybe it was a little TOO badass for those squealy voices :)

Yeah the Tachi's were just a different approach overall really and I can understand how they could rub folks the wrong way. If you've seen the entire show, both seasons, the Tachis do end up doing some realy badass stuff and the squeaky voices become less of an issue as they really end up fleshed out as characters. Yeah I loved that tank in episode 2 as well, that sucker was very cool :) Oh, I need to also thank you for the favs and the watch, there's plenty more works to come :)

no worries for the watch and that you deserve it. Actually now you mention it I did almost cry when the tachis blew themselves up saving batou so I cant really say anything bad about them.. They do a pretty gallant thing in series 2 as well :(

poor buggers

Indeed, there were some impressive episodes in both seasons. I still need to complete my collection of the DVDs.

I just had a dodgy knock off. Sadly the last 2 episodes of the second series were sub'd by someone different and you can tell they arent a very good translation of whats going on, plus some dialog isnt sub'd at all so the end doesnt make a lot of sense :/

It's quite an ending, least form what I could gather. It'll be out on DVD soon enough though.

This is pretty cool looking.

You know you don't have to make something that needs to be a vehicle, it could be a self
aware system (robot) or remote controlled. So you don't need a pilot.

Thanks much and you are indeed quite right on that. There actually will be stuff like that and are in the project the tank was designed for.

Good catch, thatís another crit Iím aware of but forgot to mention in the post, yeah it does look crampt for space, not a very effective design, then again some of the real world stuff in past wars were pretty daft in execution. As for my level of skill I donít put myself above anyone else, I just do the best I can with what I have. Honestly I feel youíre just as skilled as I am what Iíve seen so far is pretty cool. Gotta say I dig spider tank critters myself, quite a bit.

Yeah this site is a huge community and a great way to get exposure. I finally joined because I figured it might be a good way to get some of my own studioís original works a little more exposure as Iíve been fairly anonymous just doing my thing on the net, little time to post. Iíve done professional work and am doing so now so it eats up time as Iím sure you know. That said Iím gonna try to take time to post and respond to as many folks as I can, I just might be delayed in responding at times.

Iíve seen ukitakumukiís work here before, very wild paintings that guy has, the other artist new to me and damn, youíre right they have a pile of watchers O_o;;; Iíll keep in touch, meeting artists with similar tastes was one of my reasons to join :) Donít sweat the typo, Iíve done it far too often myself, on the graveyard night shift doing work right now XD Coffee elixer of crazy night owls O_O

I am a sucker for nearly all 'spider' walking mechas.

If anything, the tank does not really look like it does not have enough space for people to fit inside. Other than that...your proffesional skill kinda blows my meager skills out of the water.

Likewise, it's good that I managed to find you (you find me..more like it) before you become too 'popular' on DA. Once thousands of people start watching you, it is quite hard to respond to all the comments that you recieve on a piece.
For example or have 4 digits of watchers, and they manage to only converse with a small percentage of those.

Just wait untill you get your daily deviation...+50 watchers at least.
