Many of us old school artists and sci-fi fans know this book well, even more people, unfortunately, don't. I remember my Father buying this book for me (at an old K-mart I believe) when I was quite young, early teens. I used to get lost in this book, anyone reading that having got a copy back then knows the feeling. It was a book brimming with imagination and adventures in... another, more familiar galaxy not so far away. I was lucky enough to be part of an official revival of TTA, with Stewart Cowley's involvement himself, and I still have a very direct connection to TTA (eventually more on this at a later time I expect): vulnepro.deviantart.com/galler… There will likely be more TTA from me at some point... eventually.

As to this little 3D spacy craft, it was very much something I just thought would be fun to try as I continue to jam the Zbrush virtual book-learnin' into my skull. As I noted in the previous post I didn't go terribly "greeble" crazy with the ship beyond the rear engine "box"-thing (I stuck to Colin's design so, yeah box. I rather dig the shapes myself though). In the painting you really can't tell what, if anything, is actually back there save there's 3 engines with the center one having a larger exhaust so I felt greebles were fitting here. My paints are a variation of Colin's with an ass-load more dirt and grime thrown in. Frankly that added touch of beating the hell outta your fictional spacecraft designs makes ALL the difference as to selling their sense of "history" and reality. That's, one of various reasons, why everyone loves the original Star Wars trilogy and doesn't like the prequels. Nuff said.

This is NOT one of my original designs. This ship is based on the original classic design by Colin Hay from his painting featured in the 1978 publication, 'Spacecraft 2000 to 2100 AD'.

I also did a version of this ship, in digital paints, which can be seen here: TTA ACM 115 C1 Minnows by VulnePro

Gotta love TTA style.
But I still look at this joker and imagine the atmospheric drag the suction around that large flat stern is going to cause.
A question often asked is what a person's favorite ship from the series is: don't know that I have a favorite, they are each interesting in their various ways.
