Theos KE Polemos combat FOILsThis gallery documents the development of design concepts for the Polemos based combat frames commonly called F.O.I.L.s., short for Faedai Omni Icar Leviathan. FOILs are dual consciousness entities working in unison, a human pilot in concert with a sendai control center, the Faedai. This piloting "connection" is called a use system where the Faedai translates the skills of the human pilot into the FOILs combat performance capabilities. The most revered FOILs and pilots are the sword weilding Cavalry machines. Highly skilled in bladed combat, and rather theatrical, for entertainment hungry populace of the SOL system many FOILs, CAV especially, have a dedicated following and fanbase. The sendai are especially enamored with the exploits of their larger brethren, the faedai, as the FOILs, to them, represent freedom and strength. A deep irony as the use bond is typically anything but free. It isn't until the theater of Polemos grows gravely out of control that some FOILs and their human crews move the faedai out of their strictly singular role as tools of war into a real freedom. Theos Ke Polemos is layered with many mysteries and the FOILs certainly have many secrets to be uncovered. CommentsThanks for the kind words. What up here is just a small sample of the stuff designed so far so there will be more going up in the future. They've evolved quite a bit and the process has been interesting. Considering the mecha genre has been well covered one might think there's not much left to say visually but I would argue there is. It's simply a matter of coming at things from any new perspectives possible. Story has everything to do with that too as approaching the idea of "mecha" in the story differently, decidedly un-mecha but more about character can change a great deal of things.
There's a lot to explore very interesting mecha designs. You have a very distinct style with those FOILs
Also it is great how you come out with a matching background description and story. Doh! Haven't done that in some time LOL Bloomin' DA and the lack of post edit. My reply is below, hit wrong send window.
Again my thanks! |
