2011 forward...

Sat Jan 1, 2011, 7:54 PM

A Happy New Year to everyone!  And now we're all 2011 and still...

no flying cars, no monoliths blowing up Jupiter, no evil A.I. skynets, no armies of the undead, man where's the dramatic future-y stuffs?

I suppose this is a good thing.

A bit late in the eve posting New Year wishes but here's to an incredibly productive and continually inspiring 2011 for everyone here on DA. It's been an up and down 2010 but I expect 2011 to kick off with a bang productively. My Father continues to recover so I can get to a lot of backlog work more and more.  Stay tuned as there's a lot of Theos work coming.

Best and onward into 2011!

Dammit!  Where's that flying car? Really future, you fibbed.

  • Listening to: TV background noise.
  • Reading: Various books and TKP materials

Frying cars would be cool, imagine having a hankering for chicken nuggets and somebody throwing them down to you.

Oh wait, thats flying cars.

Seeing how people drive on the ground, can imagine scenarios in which cars crash and flaming wreckage falls to the ground. I am not sure about the flying cars but bring on the neural interfaces and the Joy bots!

Not sure I would want a Joy bot with win 7 inside.
Getting a blue screen could be painful.

Heres to a better year 2011 than the sucky 2010.

Frying cars, now that sounds amusing and useful too. The George Foreman flying grill. I suppose when the flying cars crash into a flaming heap they, then, transforms into frying cars... doh!

Imagine a frying car hitting a flock of pigeons.
Whoo hoo, Chipotle Tequila BBQ Squab for everyone!

If the cars crash into a crowd of people, well Long Pork is frowned upon by most civilized societies.
Well, unless you are with the Donner party.

Had some Salmon with a tequila citrus glaze, that was tasty.
One of the few places that had Carpaccio Di Manza, an appetizer with thin sliced of beef with shaved
Parmesan cheese and olive oil.
Too bad that restaurant went out of business they had some good food.
NYC diners love bad food, only the good restaurants die young.

There's some pretty decent future-y stuff, dude.
-People are flying in wing suits for fun.
-Commercial space flight is in the works.
-Holograms have appeared in news casts.
-The Mazda Furai. It doesn't fly, but looks like it can move between dimensions.
-Military-grade exosuits and experimental mechs like the "Big Dog" are making big leaps forward (not sure that's very good).
-Everything on this website: [link]
-And here's a flying car for you: [link]

If you're still disappointed, crack a popular mechanics and prepare to freak out.

but agree. I want much MORE!!!
Happy 2011!

Oh, indeedy, I'm aware of a lot of that and you're right we do have some pretty trippy future-y stuffs right now. I was, more or less, being facetiously silly than serious but I still want something more sexy like a Blade Runner Spinner or one of those cars from the Fifth Element. That would be aces. That flying car in your link isn't bad though, it's better looking than the Moller Skycar (can't say I dig the look of that thing at all). I imagine we're still a bit away from them losing wings or looking like they have weird jet engines on them but we're on our way to getting there. Either way we've had a lot of progress...

however we've also had a lot of impaired progress and should have been a lot farther along than we are in some areas, space exploration coming to mind for sure. Nasa has been pretty backwards as to space advancement but that's as much their mistakes as it is political realities that hamstrung them in budget. We've had the technology to already have gone to Mars, bases on the moon, etc. We've never had the political will though as spending a billion on a stealth bomber was more important than going into space. It's in military R7D we've always excelled so Big Dog is only the beginning of the insanity I expect. Space or giant deathbots? Hmmmm. We hyoomans can be strange sometimes, though giant deathbots would be somethin' to see XD

More indeed and Happy 2011 Rob! Here's to us all making this a great year :)

I'm still a little butt hurt about the monolith not blowing up Jupiter thing but I'm still looking forward to the new year ^^

Damn pesky Jupiter is quite the indestructible gas beast it is. Comet it eats for breakfast.

Aye, here's to a great New Year :)

Wow, you have a very special vision of the future lol Monoliths and stuff.
Anyway, cheers to 2011, hoping it'll be better than 2010! And good to here about your father, I hope he fully recovers!

LOL I was more being silly than anything but still want a flying car, ala a Blade Runner Spinner. Otherwise we're doing pretty OK in the future stuff for the most part-ish.
