The new monitor arrive this morning; a Dell Ultra Sharp U2212HM 21 inch wide screen. I never minded the old Samsung being a 19 inch but it is rather nice having the extra visual real estate with the Dell. It doesn't sound like much going up to 21 but it's pretty significant being so used to the old one. I'll have to pick up a new calibration tool because the old Colorvision Spyder 2 doesn't get along with LED back light so I'm not even going to try. The Dell is reasonably calibrated out of the box so all good. I'm happy to get the damn CRT brick I was running, in the interim, off my desk finally. Good God that thing is hyooge and the color totally shot. Well, back to work! Good deal.

I just wanted to drop in a quick post noting that my monitor (Samsung 931c wide gamut LCD) croaked out last week and I'm currently awaiting it's replacement (Dell Ultra Sharp U2212HM IPS screen and also wide gamut).  It had been acting up since last month but it wasn't clear it actually was the monitor at first (video card also was a suspect but it's fine). This has been causing causing problems here and there as it was in it's mysterious death rattle. Now that it's done-for no color work until the new monitor arrives. I'm running my old CRT right now so I can respond to messages and surf but this thing is bloody shot for color it's utterly useless.

I'll be back to posting soon. Thanks for the support always and enjoy the Memorial Day holiday!

Cheers!

I forget what type of monitor I have (it's some LG 1920x1080 monitor), but I love it. It's a lot better than the ones I had to use for my digital painting class. Only problem with it is all the marks on the monitor itself (to the point I can't tell if something's a type or not..), and the fact that it sometimes forgets what the color red is. I'll be playing Diablo 3 or Dead Island, and everything red turns almost black, and everything else is greenish-blue lmao

no artist should be without good monitors, I run 27" monitors at both work and at home, work one has little better gamuts in the blacks, its weird to go back and forth though :D

good luck!

My condolences.

One of my monitors was dying, NEC something but I lucked out my boss was cleaning up and I got a free one. My NEC was an old CRT from back when it was connected to my old Gateway. It would click when I would change resolutions and before I got rid of it, it was having problems waking up.

Game of thrones rocks!
Still watching season 1.
Just finished an episode in which assorted folks and one horse got
chopped up.

If you are a fan of the Sopranos/Deadwood, its just like them, its the people that are more interesting.

What are Chicago style Coneys?
Are they like rabbits?

Yeah when a monitor goes it can be a real pain in the ass, I feel ya on this clearly. I'm just happy to be back in business again, just have to adjust to the new one.

Aye, Game of Thrones is pretty spectacular. Season two was incredible stuff.

I suppose I was doing more mutant Chicago style coneys, I was using cucumbers, onions, red and green peppers along with Skyline chili sauce and it's damn good. Chicago style is more the "garden style" [link] so I suppose them rabbits might dig it.

Cheers!

Beef hot dogs are great if you get the ones
that have some flavor to them.

I stopped buying hot dogs from street vendors (Dirtwater Dogs)because the last time I found out why
they have that umbrella on the top of their carts. Its so you don't see the color of your hot dog.
Mine was greyish green and it could have been an extra on the Walking dead. Luckily I took only one bite or I would be looking for brains or barfing out the ones I have already.

Rabbits might dig it except for the beef hot dog part.
